Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn are no longer with WWE, a development that has surprised many fans. Their absence is noticeable, with changes in presentation evident each week. It appears that their presence also deterred some from returning to the company.

Jonathan Coachman left WWE in 2008 to join ESPN. Despite showing support for WWE through his SportsCenter gig and interviews with WWE Superstars, he did not return for years.

In an interview with The Angle Podcast, Coachman revealed that he had no desire to return to WWE due to Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn. He was owed a lot of money after the XFL deal went bad in 2021 after his return to the company.

Coachman re-signed with WWE on January 29, 2018, joining the Raw commentary team with Michael Cole and Corey Graves, replacing Booker T. On September 10, he left the Raw commentary team and was replaced by Renee Young, transitioning to the role of pre-show panel host for pay-per-views. He now seems open to returning to WWE, as both he and the company have undergone changes.

He also served as the pregame host for the 2020 XFL. Coachman left WWE and the XFL in 2021, stating that he had expected reimbursement for travel expenses but never received it due to the XFLs bankruptcy. Now that Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn are no longer part of the equation, you never know if Coach may re-join his WWE family down the road.
