At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Bryan Danielson is set to face Shingo Takagi in a quarterfinal match of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament. On the June 26 episode of AEW Dynamite, Takagi teamed up with Hiromu Takahashi and Titan to face Wheeler Yuta, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli. The match descended into chaos, with Takagi launching a vicious attack on Yuta. Danielson rushed in to make the save and ended up in an intense staredown with Takagi.
In a digital exclusive, Bryan Danielson shared his thoughts following his intense confrontation with Shingo Takagi. Danielson revealed that their animosity runs deeper than their recent encounter, as Takagi had disrespected him in the past. This history of disdain has only fueled Danielsons determination to defeat Takagi in their upcoming match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Danielson then admitted that his mindset of simply wanting to face the best wrestlers was no longer working for him. He noted that Takagi made it personal by attacking Yuta, someone he considered like a son. Danielson expressed his frustration with disappointing the fans, his family, and himself, and vowed that it wouldnt happen at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
We will have to wait and see whether The American Dragon will be able to defeat Shingo Takagi at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30th, as a lot is certainly riding on his victory.
