Lille could sell in-demand striker Jonathan David for a fee as little as 20m if the structure of the deal is financially beneficial to them, 90min understands.

David is entering the final year of his contract and does not have any plans to extend his stay in the north of France.

With David among their most valuable assets and uncertainty in France over income in regards to Ligue 1's TV rights deal saga, Lille are inclined to try and sell him for a fee while they still can.

90min understands four Premier League clubs in particular have their sights set on David, and Lille significantly dropping their price tag down from 45m makes him a far more appealing option this summer compared to previous windows.

Suitors are aware a deal is available for under 30m, and if a guaranteed-fee heavy structure is tabled, potentially 10m less than that.

David is a long-term target of Chelsea, who first identified him as a future striker when Graham Potter requested his signing during his time in the Stamford Bridge dugout. Though Potter was sacked in April 2023, much of that same recruitment team remains in place at Chelsea and still admire David.

Chelsea will soon wrap up the signing of 18-year-old striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona, though they could still bring in David, or another forward, since the expected departures of Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja will leave room for another addition.

Across London, Tottenham Hotspur have a long-standing interest in David which dates back to Fabio Paratici's spell as managing director of football.

Though Paratici left Spurs as a full-time employee last year amid a global footballing ban, he has still been able to advise Spurs and had input over last summers business - David replacing Bayern Munich-bound Harry Kane was an option that was floated. Tottenham were ultimately put off by David's price tag at the time, and it remains to be seen whether they make a move for him this year with Johan Lange now instilled as Paratici's permanent replacement.

Manchester United are determined to sign a new striker this window, but Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee is top of their shortlist at the moment.

Zirkzee, who is not expected to decide on his future until after his Euro 2024 campaign with the Netherlands, has been in talks over a move to AC Milan. The Rossoneri are willing to pay his 34m release clause but have struggled to find an agreement over substantial agent fees and personal terms.

If United fail to sign Zirkzee, then it is possible they will step up their interest in David. Brentford's Ivan Toney, who is also heading into the last year of his contract, remains on their list as well.

West Ham United too would like to bring in David in their own search for a striker. Their lack of European football next season and stature compared to Chelsea, Spurs and United make them an outside contender, however.

David is not expected to finalise his future until after Canada's Copa America campaign comes to an end. He scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Peru earlier this week, chalking up one win from their opening two group stage games.
