WWE has been releasing quite a few talent over the past several months, some of who were shocking, to say the least considering how long they were part of the company. In fact, we now know the likelihood of WWE possibly changing their strategy for releasing talent in the future.
Earlier this year, the likes of Xyon Quinn,Xia Li,Jinder Mahal,Von Wagnerand thenCameron Grimes were released from the company but it clearly did not stop there whatsoever.
The company followed this by releasing several talent such as Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Trey Bearhill, Emmamaria Diazwho garnered attention through the WWE Roku Channel series WWE: Next GenValentina Feroz, Drew Gulak, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint.
However,Dijak confirmed that June 28th was his final day under contract with WWE and stated that he wasnt even informed of his release until the very last minute, which was shocking to fans.
While speaking on Fightful Selects Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about Dijaks release and whether talent not being informed of their release well in advance is the new norm.
Sapp noted that within WWE, many were hoping that Dijaks release was an anomaly as he was informed of his release in very short order. Sapp added that Drew Gulak was expected to be re-signed before certain developments unfolded, with Gulak being informed well in advance. However, others like Reggie and Sarray were also given advance notice.
On the contrary, Dijak did not receive prior notification and was even engaged in potential contract discussions. This situation has left many within WWE unhappy, hoping it doesnt become a regular occurrence in the future.
We will have to wait and see whether the nature of Dijaks WWE release was simply an anomaly in the end, as that seems to be the likely case considering how the company has dealt with releases before that.
