Nick Kyrgios is officially nearing a comeback as the Australian tennis star has revealed that he plans to return by playing an ATP doubles tournament next month before making a singles comeback.

Kyrgios, who turned 29 in April, appeared in just one tournament last year due to knee and wrist surgeries and he also hasn't made any appearances this year.

Currently, Kyrgios is at Wimbledon, where he won't compete but will work as a commentator and analyst for the BBC in the next two weeks. And in his return to the place where he nearly became a Grand Slam singles champion two years ago, Kyrgios had some big news to share.

Kyrgios: I'll be back next month but not instantly in singles

Im back in London doing a lot of TV commentary of Wimbledon, which is exciting Kyrgios said in an interview with the UTS, via Tennis Majors.

But Im also doing training during these two weeks. Im trying to have some hits with the players that are here to see where my wrist is at. Its been 10 months since my surgery so Ill try to work my way back onto court.

Ill be playing doubles in the next month (on the ATP Tour). It will be exciting. Ill probably start there and hopefully, if everything is OK, Ill move to singles and then Ill see how long Ill hang around for.

I missed competing, I missed hearing the crowd, my fans. Even the people that hate me, I miss them, I miss them all. I cant wait to be back.

Before sustaining an unfortunate knee injury during the 2022 offseason, Kyrgios was playing his career-best tennis and coming off his best season.

But then, Kyrgios' big plans for 2023 were halted by a knee injury, and just when he returned in 2023 June, he suffered a wrist injury.

When Kyrgios finally returns, his first goal will certainly be to stay healthy and then he will target to return to his past form.
