Chelsea have announced the signing of striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The Blues triggered the 5m release clause in Guiu's Barca contract last week and he has now finalised his move to Stamford Bridge.

A club statement read: "Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of striker Marc Guiu from FC Barcelona.

"The Spaniard has agreed a five-year deal with the Blues, which includes a further one-year option, and will join up with his new teammates for pre-season."

Guiu told Chelsea's club channels: "It's an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited. Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League.

"Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club."

18-year-old Guiu scored two goals in seven senior games for Barcelona last season and was also courted by Bayern Munich. Barca failed to convince Guiu to stay after his release clause was activated and Chelsea have won the race for his signature.

Guiu becomes Chelsea's third signing of the summer, following on from the acquisitions of 19m Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa and Tosin Adarabioyo, who has joined on a free transfer from Fulham.

Chelsea will soon announce their fourth summer incoming, with Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall close to finalising a move to Stamford Bridge.
