Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka has exited Wimbledon in the second round after suffering a collapse against Emma Navarro and losing in two sets.

Early in the match, there wasn't much separating Osaka and No. 19 seed Navarro. But when the match finished, Navarro claimed a straight-set win with just five games as she ousted Osaka 6-4 6-1 in exactly an hour of play.

For Osaka, this was her first Wimbledon appearance since 2019 and she wasn't hiding that she was hoping to do well at The Championships. But unfortunately for the Japanese, after recording her first win at Wimbledon since 2018, she wasn't able to go further than the second round.

How Navarro beat Osaka?

Through the opening six games of the match, not a single break point was seen as the two players were firmly tied to three games apiece. Then, Navarro earned three consecutive break points in the seventh game and realized her first break point to claim the first break of the match before serving out for the opener in the 10th game.

After dropping the first set, Osaka had three game points in the first game of the second set - and after missing out on all three - Navarro got a break point and converted it to go up by a set and a break.

Falling down by an early second-set break in such a way was seemingly very heartbreaking for Osaka, who lost her serve again in the third game as Navarro went on to win the opening four games of the second set.

After losing five games in a row, Osaka finally held on to her serve in the fifth game to end Navarro's run. However, it didn't lead to a comeback or anything like that since Navarro served out the sixth game for a 5-1 lead before breaking Osaka again in the following game to complete her straight-set win.

In the Wimbledon third round, Navarro plays against Diana Shnaider.
