Pro wrestling fans were taken by surprise when Shane McMahon was seen with Mercedes Mone. The two caught up at an airport, an interesting timing given the current rumors that Shane-O Mac may be heading to AEW.
Mercedes Mone confirmed reports that she spoke with Shane McMahon when they ran into each other in New York City over the weekend. According to reports, McMahon and Mone bumped into each other at LaGuardia Airport on Monday morning as they headed to separate flights and had a conversation. Mone confirmed the story in her official newsletter.
It remains to be seen whether AEW will be able to bring in Shane McMahon. This would certainly be an attention-grabbing moment. Mercedes Mone may not be opposed to the idea, and AEW needs to attract attention. Bringing McMahon in could create a boost for Tony Khans promotion.
Shane McMahon is not under contract with WWE. Since Vince McMahon is no longer part of the company, WWE is not being operated by a McMahon for the first time since its founding. Triple H, who is married to Stephanie McMahon, is still around as company COO, but he married into that pro wrestling royalty.
