With the "I Believe in Joe Hendry" movement in full bloom, it's safe to say that the blond bombshell's gimmick and character work have taken on a life of their own, both in the squared circle and on the music charts. However, this trend isn't new; rather, it's a more solidified version of something formulated five years ago in Ring of Honor, the translation of which is now seen every week on TNA Wrestling, asthe former Impact Digital Media Champion explained anhis interview with Chris Van Vliet on "Insight."
"Before TNA, I had the gimmick, but not the character," Hendry said. "I had custom entrance songs that people enjoyed. Whereas, the character element of who Joe Hendry is on television, that came to be in TNA."
Henry credits several people with aiding him in finding his image and voice in the business, but while speaking with VanVliet, he singled one out.
"It really has taken an army of people to get me to this point, and I'll shout out many people, but one person I'm going to shout out first is Eric Young," Hendry added. "A few weeks before I got to TNA, me and Eric Young first met on a show in Germany ... He helped me understand how I should approach this. So that's where it started, and then TNA management have worked very hands-on with me. It's just been an incredible learning experience."
Since traveling through the prohibited portal from TNA to "WWE NXT" in aNo. 1 Contender's Battle Royal for the NXT Championship earlier in June, Hendry's debut appearance garnered seven million views on X, formerly known as Twitter. Based on the additional positive reception he received from WWE officials,Hendry could be a major asset in the partnership between WWE and TNA.
