The new ATP No.1 Jannik Sinner, thanks to the success obtained in the 2nd round of the Wimbledon Championships against Matteo Berrettini, has achieved (or rather improved) a milestone that is nothing short of incredible, never achieved even by the Big 3 Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Jannik is in fact the only player, together with Bob Hewitt (Australia) and Guillermo Vilas (Argentina), to have obtained at least 14 victories in as many matches against his countrymen. And these are truly remarkable numbers for the young ATP No.1, which make him the undisputed leader of Italian tennis.

After winning the epic second round match on Centre Court against Berrettini, Sinner analysed: "It was a tough match, he played and served very well. I made a few too many mistakes in the third set and his confidence grew but it was a great match and I'm happy to have won it in four sets. We both expected a high level, he moves very well here and the way it went, the level was much higher than a second round. Unfortunately we can't control the draw. Against Matteo, a great grass player, even the small details make the difference. Fortunately it went well."

The two Italian players gave life to a truly epic and exciting show. In the end, the player who was considered by everyone as the favourite, Sinner, won it, but few would have expected it with such difficulty.
