Despite the victory, Serbian legend Novak Djokovic will not be very happy with his performance in the third round at Wimbledon. The Serbian champion appeared often nervous and played several points in a passive manner, almost waiting for the error of the opponent.

Only at times he pushed with conviction and tried to move with greater brilliance, but a certain prudence dictated the pace of the exchanges throughout the entire game. Jacob Fearnley had a proud reaction, but Djokovic asserted his experience and closed 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 in three hours of play.

The former World No.1 did not seem to be on top form and showed clear signs of nervousness during the match. The 24-time Grand Slam champion will have to raise his level to get to the bottom of Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic did not shine

Novak Djokovic tried to study his rival early in the game and spent some time figuring out how to handle games in response. The break of the lead came 4-3, when Fearnley missed a convenient slice on the first chance offered to the Belgrade.

In the second set, however, Djokovic hesitated at the opening service and was saved only with a providential ace. The Briton, as happened earlier, felt the tension and gave up the bar on the 3-3 going out laps with the straight.

The third set saw the 37-year-old struggling from many points of view and Fearnley gain courage. Ahead 3-2, Djokovic sent the backhand under the net, immediately the unexpected against break and frustrated three chances between the seventh and ninth game.

On 5-6, however, he did worse by losing control of the forehand and the set. In the fourth, things have not changed: to reward the Serbian has thought probably the experience factor. Djokovic first came back from 15-40 to 2-3 and then brekked Fearnley with a double foul at 5-5. The 24-time Grand Slam champion will face Australian Alexei Popyrin in the next round.
