The hosts are through to the last eight of Euro 2024 but Julian Nagelsmann will be aware his side will have to produce their best football of the tournament to progress beyond Spain on Friday evening.

The Germans have reverted to vintage efficiency since sparkling on Matchday 1. They remain systematically sound and superbly-coached but the swashbuckling nature of their opening-night triumph over Scotland hasn't quite been matched.

Still, their round of 16 triumph over Denmark was impressive and a mammoth quarter-final tie now awaits in Stuttgart. No side has dazzled more than Spain this summer and a thrilling affair is in store. Nagelsmann, meanwhile, has a few dilemmas to consider in regards to team selection.

Here's how Germany could line up against Spain in their Euro 2024 quarter-final clash.

GK: Manuel Neuer - After recording his second clean sheet of the tournament against Denmark, Neuer may have to produce a vintage performance if Germany are to bypass the Spaniards.

RB: Joshua Kimmich - Kimmich's going to have his hands full on Friday night when he matches up against the red-hot Nico Williams. The Athletic Club winger will see plenty of the Bayern Munich stalwart in one-v-one situations.

CB: Antonio Rudiger - Rudiger was nursing a hamstring injury ahead of the Denmark game but went on to produce one of his best performances in a Germany shirt on Saturday night. Such brilliance will need to be replicated in Stuttgart.

CB: Nico Schlotterbeck - The Borussia Dortmund defender impressed while filling in for the suspended Jonathan Tah last time out. Tah is once again available but Nagelsmann could retain Schlotterbeck for his stellar work in possession.

LB: Maximilian Mittelstadt - David Raum started the last-16 tie against Denmark but is susceptible one-on-one, which is hardly ideal against Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal. Instead, Nagelsmann could welcome Mittelstadt back into the team.

CM: Robert Andrich - Andrich has masterfully walked the yellow card tightrope having picked up his first booking of the tournament on Matchday 1. He'll be utilised to disrupt Spain's rhythm in central areas.

CM: Toni Kroos - It's set to be a battle of the controllers on Friday night, with Germany's Kroos facing Spain's Rodri. Whoever performs best may determine the winning side.

RW: Florian Wirtz - Wirtz's Euro 2024 peaked very early on, with the Bayer Leverkusen star struggling for rhythm ever since. Nagelsmann brought in Leroy Sane against Denmark but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Wirtz return with Sane utilised as a destructive option off the bench.

AM: Ilkay Gundogan - The veteran midfielder has enjoyed a fine campaign and will face plenty of familiar faces given the Spanish side is largely made up of Premier League and La Liga stars.

LW: Jamal Musiala - Germany's star of the tournament so far, Musiala took his goal tally up to three with a slick finish in transition to seal Die Mannschaft's progression into the last eight. The Bayern star is capable of unlocking Spain's backline single-handedly.

ST: Kai Havertz - Cool from the spot in the round of 16, Havertz's role in this Germany side is crucial. His movement will challenge the Spanish defence and open up space for his side's playmakers to operate. Nagelsmann still has Niclas Fullkrug to call upon off the bench.
