Emma Raducanu's victory in the third round of Wimbledon against Maria Sakkari closes an important circle that (we hope) will also definitively silence all the haters of the young British champion. Three years after her first 4th round Major, at the All England Club - which then led her to win the title at Flushing Meadows -the young British player has qualified for the 4th round of the London Slam.
A well-deserved result, obtained by playing convincing tennis, which inspired the crowd on Centre Court. A victory that allowed Raducanu to obtain a well-deserved milestone: the young British player will be back in the WTA top-100 of the rankingat the end of Wimbledon, just one year after the surgeries of spring 2023.

"Today was one of the most fun moments I've ever had on a tennis court. I really enjoyed every single moment of it. I was just like: How many times in your life are you going to get the opportunity to play for a full Centre Court?I'm really grateful for the support. I think having your inner passion, win or lose I feel like you're just trying to win the day. Different days mean different things. Sometimes you don't have a great day. Winning the day is going out there and giving it your all even if it's not your best quality. I think some days you win the day and you play great tennis. It's a give and take. But as long as you give it your all every single day," she explained.
Raducanu - who is playing the Championships thanks to a wild card - thus returns to the round of 16 of a Major three years after New York, beating the Greek number 9 seed with a final score of 6-2 6-3 in 1 hour and 32 minutes. For Raducanu it is the second victory over a top-10 player after the success obtained last week over Jessica Pegula, in Eastbourne. Emma started with the right mentality, winning the first two very hard-fought games in which she had to save two break points.
