Omos quickly established himself as a dominant presence in WWE with his imposing size and powerful energy, but he hasnt been used much by WWE at all. In fact, Triple H also allegedly refused to let Omos become another Big Show.
Omos joined WWE in January 2019 and rose to prominence in 2020 when he teamed up with AJ Styles. Their partnership led to a RAW Tag Team Championship win at WrestleMania 37. After that success, Omos made occasional TV appearances, including notable performance at the Royal Rumble earlier this year.
Since May 2023, however, Omos has been largely absent from WWE programming. His last match was in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the SmackDown episode before WrestleMania 40 in April. Before stepping away from TV, he was active at house shows, where he secured dominant victories over Odyssey Jones and Akira Tozawa in squash matches.
While speaking during K & S WrestleFests virtual signing with MVP, he spoke about various aspects of his latest WWE run, including his split from Bobby Lashley and his partnership with Omos. MVP recalled the conversation where Vince McMahon informed him and Lashley about the decision. McMahon wanted Lashley to be a solo star and tasked MVP with doing for Omos what he had done for Lashley. Although MVP wasnt thrilled, he accepted the challenge and praised Omos for his dedication to learning and improving.
MVP also shared that he spoke with Paul Triple H Levesque about how Omos was being booked. Triple H was clear that he didnt want Omos to be like the Big Show, appearing on TV weekly. Instead, he wanted Omos to be treated as a special attraction, only appearing occasionally to maintain his mystique. MVP emphasized Omos athleticism, noting that despite his size, he could move well in the ring. He feels that if someone cant make money with a 73, 385-pound athlete like Omos, theyre missing a big opportunity.
Omos also previously reacted to rumors of WWE moving on from him. Regardless, well have to wait and see if WWE will have anything substantial planned for Omos somewhere down the line.
