Frenchman Oihan Guillamoundeguy had a great first day in Neuburg an der Donau in Bavaria and took second place, one shot behind the lead. A performance that he owes in part to the Challenge Tour physio team who got him back on his feet when he woke up.

Nine birdies, two bogeys, the least we can say is that Oihan Guillamoundeguy from Landes did not play with the handbrake on Thursday on the Wittelsbacher Golfclub course. However, Ren Darrieumerlou's student woke up this Thursday with a very severe backache and never thought he would be able to produce his best golf.

"I got up and my back hurt a lot. I went to the physio truck and I thank them because they did a great job. I really played very well, good wedge shots and very good putts. I am very, very happy to start the tournament in this way." commented Guillamoundeguy at the microphone of the Challenge Tour media team.

Long the sole leader in the clubhouse, Guillamoundeguy was dethroned from first place in the middle of the afternoon by the Dane John Axelsen who signed a card free of bogey and on which appear 8 birdies.

Two other Frenchmen took place in the top 10, the current 15th of the Road to Mallorca Pierre Pineau author of 7 birdies and Romain Wattel just as prolific in birdies. The Big Green Egg German Challenge is the first tournament in the series of 7 events which should allow the top 45 of the general classification to qualify for the Grand Final of Mallorca from October 31 to November 3 on the course of the Alcanada Golf Club in Port dAlcdia.

Currently, 4 French are in the top 20 of the Road to Mallorca (Alexander Levy 7th, Benjamin Hbert 12th, Pierre Pineau 15th, and Martin Couvra 16th). Apart from Pierre Pineau, none of them made the trip. Different stakes for Robin Sciot-Siegrist 28th, Flix Mory 32nd, Sbastien Gros 43rd and Oihan Guillamoundeguy 47th overall and who are indisputably in search of points.
