AEW brought the 2024 All Out event to the NOW Arena on August 7, delivering a thrilling night of wrestling action. Among the standout matches was the AEW World Championship bout between Bryan Danielson and Jack Perry.
At All In, Bryan Danielson captured the AEW World Championship after defeating Swerve Strickland in a Title vs. Career match. Following his victory, Danielson addressed his future on the next episode of Dynamite, stating that he would remain a full-time wrestler until he lost the title and was open to facing any challenger. Jack Perry quickly interrupted, reminding Danielson of his pinfall victory over him during the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing in May. Perry then issued a challenge for the AEW World Championship at All Out, which was promptly made official.
The match began with special entrances. Jack Perry walked to the ring alongside the Young Bucks, while Bryan Danielson made his entrance to The Final Countdown, with the Chicago crowd enthusiastically singing along.
Throughout the match, Danielson generously sold for Perry, allowing the challenger to shine. However, the American Dragon remained resilient, showcasing his signature offense, including a series of stiff strikes and a high-impact superplex from the top rope.
Danielson then unleashed his iconic Yes Kicks, with the crowd chanting along, but Perry dodged the final roundhouse kick. Danielson responded by locking in the LeBell Lock, but Perry managed to reach the bottom rope, forcing a break.
The action spilled to the apron, where they traded chops and kicks. At one point, Perry pulled the referee into harms way, leading to the official being knocked out. The Young Bucks took advantage, jumping Danielson and leaving him laid out in the ring.
Just as Danielson appeared beaten, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta rushed in to chase off the Young Bucks, leaving Perry and Danielson alone in the ring. Perry capitalized, delivering a knee to Danielsons head, but Danielson kicked out at the last second.
With the momentum shifting, Danielson struck Perry with a vicious knee, bringing the NOW Arena crowd to their feet. Though he couldnt immediately make the pinfall, both men traded forearms from their knees, eventually rising to their feet. Perry slapped Danielson, prompting the crowd to chant, You F*cked Up. Danielson then unleashed a brutal flurry of offense.
In the matchs closing moments, Danielson landed a Psycho Knee, but it wasnt enough for the pin. Feeding off the crowds energy, Danielson hit another Psycho Knee, securing the victory and retaining the AEW World Championship at All Out.
After that, Luchasaurus jumped Bryan from behind, and he had a moment where he looked at his former partner in the Jurassic Express. Then Christian came out to cash in his guaranteed contract from the Casino Gauntlet match. Suddenly, Jon Moxley showed up at ringside to stop him. Claudio, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta also showed up to stop the Patriarchy from getting in the ring.
Suddenly, after Christian and his crew left, Jon Moxley jumped Danielson and put a plastic bag over his head. Pac stopped Wheeler Yuta from saving him, and Marina Shafir got in the ring as well. The crowd chanted This Is Murder as Bryan was left laying lifeless in the ring. That was brutal, and terribly imitable. It wouldnt be a huge surprise to see Tony Khan get a lot of backlash over this spot.
