Before the NBA season has even begun, Russell Westbrook has become a subject of criticism and his wife Nina isnt having it.
The worst part is, it didnt even come from an NBA commentator.
The diss came when ESPNs Ryan Clark compared Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to Westbrook.
Lamar Jackson right now is like Russell Westbrook, he said on ESPNs Get Up. We watch Russell Westbrook throughout the regular season (and even in the playoffs) have these great statistical games But you remember when he and Dame Lillard went head to head, and it got emotional. He couldnt make a shot.
Westbrooks wife, Nina, commented on ESPNs post which included the quote in it.
My goodness! Just as a basketball fan, we couldnt even wait for the NBA season to start up before the Russell slander begins? 1. This doesnt make any sense. 2. The only comparison to be made between Russell and Lamar are that theyre both unicorns and amazing at what they do. 3. Ive never met Ryan, and Im sure hes a nice guy, but please stop. 4. And finally before you start hating on Russell, at least let the basketball season start and let him miss a layup or something first. Im still enjoying the peace and the silence.
Russ also shared her response on his personal Instagram story.
In an attempt to cool things down, Clark responded to Ninas comments on IG.
@ninawestbrook I meant absolutely no disrespect. Id go down in fighting for Russ. Hes one of the ones to me!
Westbrook will be joining a new NBA team in 2024-25 the Nuggets still in search of that elusive championship ring.
Russ may well prove those doubters wrong and become a significant role player for the 2023 champions.
