Swerve Strickland showed his willingness to push the limits during AEW All Outs steel cage match by performing several high-risk moves and enduring tons of punishment. Despite facing severe backlash, he has defended the match and his actions.
At AEW All Out, Swerve Strickland and Adam Page battled in a brutal Lights Out Steel Cage match that started intensely before the cage was fully lowered. Prince Nana threw a table into the ring, and Strickland used the cage to attack Page. Both wrestlers quickly brought in various weapons, including a staple gun. Page used the gun until Strickland took control, even stapling a photo of Pages family to his chest.
The match was extremely violent, with both wrestlers bleeding and taking heavy hits. Strickland threw Page through a table, but Page fought back with a powerful move called Dead Eye. The fight reached its peak when Page performed a powerbomb onto a cinder block, making Strickland land on it.
Strickland made the violence worse by stabbing Page in the head. Page retaliated by taking out Stricklands grill and using a needle on him. The match ended with Page hitting Strickland with a chair, which won him the match. Strickland was badly hurt and needed urgent medical care.
Unsurprisingly, the match got lots of backlash as many called out AEW for allowing such dangerous match to take place. Strickland has posted several photos from the brutal match on Twitter. He defended the violent contest by pointing out that it was an unsanctioned event and emphasized that it involved going to places others wouldnt dare to.
A petition was also launched that urged AEW to end their programming after Swerve Strickland and Adam Pages All Out match. Nonetheless, we will have to wait and see if AEW will continue to push the envelope when it comes to violence in the coming months.
