DP World Tour BMW PGA Championship
The Back 9 arrives at the DP World Tour headquarters, with the Wentworth Club hosting the BMW PGA Championship, the third event of the Rolex Series of the season scheduled from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 September.

Ryan Fox won his first Rolex Series title here 12 months ago, closing with a birdie on the final hole to complete a 67 to become the best player on the West Course. The New Zealander had started the final round three shots off the lead and, after a triple bogey on the tricky third hole, it looked as if his chances had evaporated.

However, he birdied his first nine holes twice to finish in 36, and then completed the final nine in 31, birdiing the par-five 18th hole, sinking a 6-foot putt after opting for a layup to finish 18-under, one shot ahead of home favourites Tyrrell Hatton and Aaron Rai.

The win helped Fox secure a second consecutive top five in the Race to Dubai and earn a PGA TOUR card, where he has two top tens in 2024, without missing a cut in nine DP World Tour events. The PGA Championship at Wentworth has been one of the DP World Tours marquee events since Tony Jacklin lifted the trophy in the tours inaugural season in 1972.

The list of champions is a veritable parade of golfing stars, with names such as Sir Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie and Luke Donald, all multiple winners, joining legends Arnold Palmer and Rory McIlroy, as well as Francesco Molinari, Matteo Manassero and Costantino Rocca who carved their names in 2018, 2013 and 1996 respectively.

McIlroy is looking for his second win this week, as is his teammate Shane Lowry. Local favourites include Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre, who has already claimed two Global Swings victories in 2024. Also Global Swings winners Sebastian Sderberg and Guido Migliozzi join the field, with British Major champions Matt Fitzpatrick, Danny Willett and Justin Rose sure to catch the attention of the large crowd.

Matteo Manassero, currently 9th in the Race to Dubai, Guido Migliozzi (#14) and Francesco Molinari (#152), are joined by Andrea Pavan (#52) and Edoardo Molinari (#133). McIlroy will be looking to claim his fourth Rolex Series title in two years.

The Northern Irishman successfully defended his crown at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January, before being unseated at the Genesis Scottish Open by home hero Robert MacIntyre. Alex Noren became the first Rolex Series winner at the event in 2017, and since then Francesco Molinari, Danny Willett, Tyrrell Hatton, Billy Horschel, Shane Lowry and Ryan Fox have joined him as winners in the Rolex Series era.

With 8,000 Race to Dubai points up for grabs, a strong result this week could be crucial in securing a player a place in the DP World Tour Play-Offs and the final two Rolex Series events of the season: the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship.
