Its been a tough stretch for Wheeler Yuta, as the young star has found himself at a crossroads following his mentor Bryan Danielsons brutal suffocation at AEW All Out. Now, caught in a web of internal conflict, Yuta remains torn as a key member of The Blackpool Combat Club.
During the September 18th edition of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley didnt mince words, sending a direct message to Yuta, making it clear that the rising star would eventually have to come to terms with his role within The Blackpool Combat Club. The pressure is mounting, and it seems the cracks are starting to show.
Later in the show, AEW correspondent Alex Marvez attempted to get some answers from Yuta, mentioning that rumors were swirling about him possibly leaving the group. Marvez also asked Yuta about being pushed to defend the AEW World Trios Titles, which seemed to add to the pressure Yutas already feeling.
Appearing flustered and conflicted, Yuta made a notable slip-up during the interview, referring to WrestleDream instead of the upcoming Grand Slam event. Marvez quickly corrected him, and Yuta, clearly distracted, brushed it off. To make things more awkward, a crew member brought Yuta one of the AEW World Trios Titles, saying he had left it behind in the locker room. Yutas response? If they need one more favor, Ill beat whoever I need to next week.
The moment caught the attention of fans, with many labeling Yutas WrestleDream reference as a botch. However, on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez cleared things up, explaining that Yutas confusion is actually part of the storyline. Meltzer noted that AEWs current direction for Yuta involves portraying him as being lost in the clouds, struggling with brain fog and uncertainty.
As Yuta continues to navigate this turbulent period, its becoming clear that AEW is building toward a bigger moment for him. The eventual split from The Blackpool Combat Club and a potential alliance with Bryan Danielson seems inevitable, but how and when it will happen remains to be seen.
