CM Punks return to WWE at last years Survivor Series has been hailed as one of the companys smartest moves in recent times, and its clear why. He had a strong segment with Giulia and Roxanne Perez on NXT this week, and it seems their segment on NXT ran longer than anticipated.
During the September 17 edition of WWE NXT, CM Punk was involved in a solid segment with NXT Womens Champion Roxanne Perez and her challenger Giulia. In the segment, Roxanne berated Punk, mentioning that she realized she should be a fan of Drew McIntyre. She speculated that CM Punk was looking for one last moment of glory before Drews career ended at Bad Blood in their Hell in a Cell match. Punk responded by complimenting her confidence, stating he used to have a similar attitude that helped him become the best in the world.
Punk acknowledged that while Roxanne might have been the top female wrestler in WWE, she needed to be at her best in Chicago to avoid losing to Giulia. As Giulia entered the ring, she declared that the countdown had started, with only two weeks left until their match. When Giulia turned to leave, Roxanne almost hit her with the NXT Womens Championship, but Punk stepped in to stop her.
According to Fightful Select, CM Punks segment with Roxanne Perez and Giulia on NXT exceeded its planned duration. This extended time more or less revealed the segments impact and the audiences interest.
However, it is to be noted that Roxanne Perezs promo in the segment had a significant hole. It was also confirmed thatCM Punk will be the special guest refereefor the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams on the debut episode of NXT on the CW Network, so Punk will remain busy for the past few weeks now. Well have to see whether he will be in Roxanne Perezs corner for her NXT Womens Title match against Giulia on October 1st.
