Bjorn Borg, captain of Europe at the Laver Cup and winner of 11 career Majors, is an icon of tennis and sport, a champion who was able to conigure technical and athletic qualities and who radically changed the way of approaching tennis, between the late '70s and the mid '80s.

But is there a player today who comes close to the glacial talent of the Swedish legend? For the last time, Borg will take on the role of captain, since from next year the new captain of Team Europe in the Laver Cup will become Yannick Noah, but in the meantime the legendary Swede, protagonist of a thousand battles against his nemesis John McEnroe in the 80s, has released interesting words on the sidelines of the first day of the Laver Cup.
The Swedish tennis player has been interviewed by the media in Berlin these days on the occasion of this seventh edition of the event created, among others, by Roger Federer. Borg was also asked which player currently active reminds him most of himself.
And Borg has clearly expressed a name. The Swedish tennis player, 6 times champion at Roland Garros and 5 at Wimbledon, analyzed: "I have a name, I grew up on clay and so did he. It is certainly Rafael Nadal."

Borg, who usually doesn't give too many statements to the press, obviously spoke about many topics in Berlin these days, one of which is the Spanish champion 22nd Slam winner and the seventh edition of the Laver Cup.
"Watching Nadal play on clay throughout his career is fantastic. It's incredible. I can understand how he knows how to move players on the court. This is the most important week of the year for me, I'm still disappointed about the defeats in London 2022 and Vancouver 2023.
I want to win so much like John McEnroe that my team will be ready," he added. As for his expectations for this week, the former world number 1 joked that he is very confident, we have a good chance. I think it's time for Europe to win in Berlin.
