Danielle Collins' rough last couple of months continue after the American tennis star was forced to pull out of the upcoming WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing due to illness.

After a very impressive first part of the year and having a kind of fairytale farewell, things went south for the 30-year-old in late July when she suffered an abdominal injury and had to retire her Paris Olympics quarterfinal meeting versus Iga Swiatek.

Since then, the world No. 10 has appeared in three tournaments and picked as many shock defeats - upset by Erika Andreeva (Monterrey), Caroline Dolehide (US Open), and Olivia Gadecki (Guadalajara).

But unfortunately for Collins, she won't be able to snap her four-match losing streak when the China Open starts next week. In the past, she made two appearances in the China capital and had one second-round and one first-round exit.

Collins indicated that she was dealing with personal issues

The 2024 Miami Open champion made a very strong start to her US Open first-round match but then her game completely collapsed and world No. 45 Dolehide went on to seal a 1-6 7-5 6-4 win.

Afterward, the 30-year-old hinted that there was a big reason behind her recent struggles.

I have honestly just had so many distractions away from the court. Just going through lifes challenges and coping with it," Collins said following her US Open exit.

When it comes to her retirement, the American suggested that nothing changed in that regard.

Ive gotten enough attention to last a lifetime. Looking forward to the other things... I like the idea of not traveling 40 weeks out of the year. That kind of sounds good at this point in my career with all the travel that Ive done, even though I have enjoyed it a lot," she said.

It remains to be seen if Collins will be able to play at the Wuhan Open, which starts on October 7th.
