While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross talked about what makes hosting events at Arthur Ashe Stadium special. He pointed out the unique outdoor setting, which presents challenges, particularly with managing the noise levels and sound equipment. Ross emphasized that the outdoor aspect of the venue is what sets it apart, making it a distinct experience.
Ross credited Rafael Morffi for the idea of using Arthur Ashe Stadium, noting that Morffi, who lives nearby, was instrumental in getting the concept off the ground. Ross praised Morffi for his creativity and hard work, especially given the limited resources he had to work with.
According to Ross, Morffi played a crucial role in organizing the event and laying the groundwork for the production team to follow through. Ross expressed excitement about the event and mentioned that Morffi plans to visit and see everyone during the show, calling him an MVP for his efforts in making it all possible.
We will have to wait and see whether AEW will continue to hold the Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the next few years, as many fans feel its time to change the venue from next year.
