Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been mainstays in AEW since its inception in 2019. Recently, there were rumors suggesting that they had signed long-term contracts with WWE, which excited fans. However, those rumors have been proven false for now. With that said, it appears that Tony Khan has added injury time to Rey Fenixs contract.

Last month, speculation arose regarding Pentas discussions with WWE, with indications that he and Fenix would only consider joining if they both received contracts. WWE showed significant interest, especially in Fenix. Cory Hayes from PWN even hinted that WWE had already secured deals for The Lucha Brothers and intended to introduce them on the main roster.

However, it has since been confirmed that The Lucha Brothers remain under contract with AEW and are not free to move to WWE at this moment. We had then reported that Rey Fenix might just stay in AEW longer than expected as Tony Khan had the option of adding injury time to his contract.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latestWrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is currently adding injury time to Rey Fenixs contract, which is close to a year but not quite that long. Tony Khan extended substantial offers for Fenix to remain with the company, but he and his team have not agreed to a new deal yet.

While Rey Fenix seemingly bid goodbye to AEW in a recent post, it appears that might have been premature as Fenix will be staying with the company for almost a year now. Therefore, well have to see if Penta will stay with him or venture off to WWE on his own.
