The Vince McMahon docuseries had fans all over watching closely to see what would be unearthed, and there is a lot to unpack. Vince McMahon was all about the show and getting content for his hours of screen time, and that included a desire to get his daughters actual wedding on live television.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon married in real life in 2003 after being involved romantically on-screen. We all know how Triple H drugged Stephanie to get them married in a Las Vegas chapel before she could wed Test. After seeing as Triple H and Stephanie were together on-screen, Vince McMahon thought he could use their real-life relationship to benefit the WWE audience.
During the Mr. McMahon Netflix docuseries, Triple H confirmed that Vince McMahon wanted to put his wedding with Stephanie McMahon on television. Vince saw pay-per-view dollars when he thought about his daughters wedding.
Vince McMahon also said, So, what if Stephanie and Pauls wedding was live on pay-per-view? Wow. People would buy that. Itd be awesome. Itd be great. Stephanie replied, Uhno.
Triple H then revealed that Vince McMahon thought Stephanie was selfish for her decision. This was followed by booking a match against his own daughter in a street fight before her wedding.
The I Quit match between Vince and Stephanie took place at WWE No Mercy 2003. When thinking about that match, Stephanie McMahon recalled that there was a concern that she might walk into her wedding with a black eye.
Vince won the match and Stephanie was off television for two years. She did return for a variety of stories, but at this point in her career she decided to stay at home with her family. She is still part of WWE, as the company publicly wished her a Happy Birthday on September 24.
Paul Heyman gave her a glowing review for this decision during his WWE Hall of Fame speech. She was ringside for the ceremony with a huge smile on her face. As of this writing, there dont seem to be any plans for her full-time return, but she is certainly welcomed at any event.
Netflix also makes it very easy to sign up and subscribe for their service, one that will host WWE RAW every week starting in January 2025.
