Ricochet recently opened up about his final storyline in WWE and addressed the criticisms surrounding his exit. After it was reported that Ricochet had informed WWE of his intention to leave the company, his departure was set up in dramatic fashion on the June 10th episode of Raw. During the show, Bron Breakker viciously slammed Ricochet onto a car windshield, leading to the former Intercontinental Champion being taken away in an ambulance, marking his final appearance.
Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Ricochet explained that WWE left his exit open-ended because there were still ongoing talks about possibly re-signing with the company. He noted that WWEs plan wasnt to write him off definitively but to allow the door to remain open should he choose to return.
As for the criticism surrounding his lack of a winning farewell match, Ricochet had a clear response. He emphasized that winning on his way out would have felt odd, given his role in WWE was often to put others over and take their finishing moves. He defended WWEs decision to use him to further elevate Bron Breakker, who was just beginning his run on Raw at the time.
Despite leaving WWE on what many perceived as a low note, Ricochet made a triumphant debut for AEW at the All In London pay-per-view in August 2024. Hes now gearing up to challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship on the October 2 edition of Dynamite.
