Coach Patrick Mouratoglou hailed Roger Federer's tennis as "perfection" but also highlighted that while it may seem to some, the former 20-time Grand Slam champion was definitely putting up effort when preparing to hit shots.

Over the years, you have probably heard many times the Swiss' tennis being labeled as the most aesthetically beautiful and some describing it as "so easy and effortless."

In one of his interviews from this past summer, the 43-year-old revealed that it used to "frustrate" him to hear people say his game was effortless because only he knew how much hard work he had to put up in order to make his game look the way it was.

10 days ago, Federer made an appearance at the Laver Cup as a guest and the event that was founded by him posted a video of him hitting some sparring shots. To no one's surprise, those shots looked as elegant as ever.

Mouratoglou: It looked like Federer was not trying hard, the reality was different...

Serena Williams' former long-time coach, who just launched his new partnership with Naomi Osaka in Beijing, had some thoughts on the Swiss' practice court clip from Berlin.

"It's incredible because it looks so easy when he plays, makes zero effort. A lot of people think when he was playing pro that he was not trying hard, that he was playing without any purpose. But they feel that because the guy is so loose and relaxed with the upper body, which is actually an incredible strength. But if you look at the lower part of the body and even here when he has no purpose and playing just for fun look how dynamic his legs are. They are moving extremely fast, and he does the effort on the legs," Mouratoglou explained.

Meanwhile, Federer repeated at the Laver Cup that he is happily retired.
