In response to a controversial post by John Millman on the tennis schedule-issue, the Canadian Denis Shapovalov shared an honest point of view on the issue, relating tennis players' commitments in the season and their relative earnings.

It all started with a post by the Australian, who wrote: "There's always been talk of a tighter tournament schedule, but it's hard to convince them when players go hunting for exhibitions in their off weeks. Then you have to consider those who play Futures and Challenger tournaments, who might need those off weeks to play and earn the little money they can."

Millman wanted to express his point of view on the much-discussed calendar issue by taking a dig at all the tennis players who decide to take part in some exhibition tournaments in the weeks in which they could rest to earn more money. The Australian also mentioned the players who populate the Futures and Challenger Tour.

Responding to Millman's post, Shapovalov talked about the calendar and the various exhibitions that have become part of the tennis season.

"In my opinion, if players earned more money during the season, they would not feel the need to play exhibition tournaments in the off weeks. Instead, players (except maybe the top 20) earn that much only 4 times a year (Slams). So it is obvious that players decide to play exhibitions to make more money."
