CM Punk loves NXT, as it didnt take him very long after his Survivor Series 2023 return before he made his debut for the black and gold brand. With NXT going to a brand-new channel for them, Punk had to be involved.
The Chicago location for the October 1 WWE NXT debut for The CW set a perfect stage for CM Punks return to NXT. The fact that Ethan Page was set to defend his NXT Title against Trick Williams was also a perfect occasion. While Punk did get involved with the ladies during his last appearance on NXT TV, their big event in the Allstate Arena was all about Trick vs All Ego.
Fans were more than ready for this big match, and they gave CM Punk a tremendous reception. This was a back-and-forth match as CM Punk made sure that he kept things fair on both sides. Punk had to lay down the law to make sure Ethan Page toed the line as well.
These two were fighting hard to get their hands on the new NXT Championship that Shawn Michaels debuted to start off the show. They moved to the outside eventually, and Ethan Page sent Trick Williams through the announce table with an Egos Edge.
Punk went to check on Trick as All Ego got back in the ring. Suddenly, Trick nailed a kick to the head. Then they got to their feet and started trading blows. Suddenly, Trick fired off a crotch chop, and he hit Page with a flurry of offense for a two count.
Ethan Page got the upper hand back, and he had two near falls in a row. Then Page nailed a GTS on Trick Williams for a two count, and Page didnt like that at all. Punk put the two fingers right in Pages face after that.
Then Trick Williams got out of the Egos Edge, and he nailed the Trick Shot for the win. The premiere on the CW ended with Trick Williams as NXT Champion. Then CM Punk hit a GTS on Page for his troubles. This was quite a way to start their time on a new network.
We will have to see how they follow up with this on next weeks episode. Tickets to the October 8 show at The Factory in Saint Louis are still on sale via Ticketmaster.
