Italy are the latest country to throw their name into the hat as potential hosts for the UEFA Women's Euro 2029 tournament.

The region is up against Germany, Portugal and a joint bid from Sweden and Denmark, with the winner set to be announced by UEFA in December next year.

As part of their submission, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said their bid was targeted at "consolidating the development of women's football" and would involve cities not hosting matches at the men's Euro 2032 - set to be shared by Italy and Turkey.

They also went on to state that hosting the tournament would be a good opportunity to test their organisational capabilities ahead of the men's Euros three years later.

The news came in the same week that tickets for Euro 2025 were released, which is being held across eight cities in Switzerland from 2-17 July.

Current champions England earned their spot in the group stage earlier this year, alongside Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland. The draw for the group stage is expected to take place on 16 December.

UEFA made around 250,000 tickets available to the general public, with an expectation to release a total of 720,000. Those made available for the 31 matches will be up for grabs on a first come first serve basis, with the cheapest priced at 22 each.

By the time the tournament rolls around, it would've been three years since the Lionesses were crowned champions of Europe for the first time in their history.

They won the final against Germany 2-1 after extra time, with Chloe Kelly scoring the famous winning goal.
