Britt Baker has been through a lot in AEW, and its always a big deal when she returns to Pittsburgh. AEWs resident dentist couldnt miss their 5-year anniversary show, and she had quite a match waiting for her.
Britt Baker has not been a stranger when it comes to controversy, but she doesnt let that bother her. Her recent breakup with Adam Cole attracted considerable media attention and sparked speculation from fans and commentators.
On top of that, there have been rumors of backstage tension within AEW, particularly following her suspension related to a confrontation with MJF. While her time away was integrated into a storyline with Mercedes Mone, she ultimately did not succeed in her TBS Title match at All In 2024. Baker is aware of the gossip surrounding her and has chosen not to engage with it. Needless to say, things have been busy for Baker since her surprising return after a nine-month injury hiatus at Forbidden Door 2024.
During the October 2 AEW Dynamite, The Professor Serena Deeb took on Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in singles action. Baker came out with a big Terrible Towel behind her, and she made her way to the ring through the crowd. That was a huge heros welcome for her.
Baker and Deeb had a back-and-forth matchup as their match stretched through a commercial break. When they came back, Baker nailed a fisherwomans suplex, and then she got her glove on to prepare for her finisher.
Deeb was able to fight back as she sent Baker into the turnbuckle. Then she tried to get a stretch muffler on Baker, but that didnt work. Deeb avoided a rip cord from Baker, and then Britt nailed a German Suplex followed by a lariat. Then Baker hit an Air Raid Crash while they showed AEW Womens Champion Mariah May in the crowd watching on.
They continued on as Britt Baker fought to get out of a leg hold from Deeb. Then they both went to the top rope where Baker nailed an avalanche Air Raid Crash for a near fall. Suddenly, Baker went for the Lock Jaw and she got the hold for the submission win.
This was a big win for Britt Baker in Pittsburgh as fans cheered her on. Mariah May was then shown in the crowd, but she didnt look too impressed at all. Deeb tried to get revenge with a post-match beatdown, but then Queen Aminata ran down for the save. Aminata then joined Baker in the ring after that to help her celebrate.
