After the successes on clay in Rio De Janeiro (2022) and Barcelona (2022 and 2023) and on the grass of Queen's (2023), Carlitos has achieved his first ATP 500 title on hard courts in the Chinese capital, becoming the first tennis player to win at least one men's title in this category on all three surfaces.
Because of the smaller number of tournaments in this category in the past, neither Novak Djokovic, nor Roger Federer nor Rafael Nadal have managed to achieve this result. Rafa has not won on grass, considering his victory at Queen's in 2008 when he was still an ATP 250.

The Serbian Champion has instead collected 15 victories, but all on hard courts. Finally, as for the Swiss Maestro, he has won 24 ATP 500 titles, but none on clay. Another record, therefore, that projects Alcaraz, at just 21 years old, even more into the history of tennis.
In Beijing, Carlitos came from behind to beat the Italian with a score of 6-7 (6) 6-4 7-6 (3), winning the 16th title of his career and defeating Jannik for the third time in three meetings played this year (50% of Sinner's defeats in 2024 have come against Alcaraz).
