Jannik Sinner showed very good physical condition in the 2nd round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters, demonstrated by the victory in straight sets against the Japanese Taro Daniel with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
The Italian will immediately have to repeat himself in a difficult third round against the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The ATP No.1 will try to improve on the result obtained last year - when he reached the 4th round - after reaching and losing a few days ago in the final of the China Open against friend and rival Carlos Alcaraz.
At the press conference, Sinner immediately highlighted how important physical recovery will be in view of the 3rd round scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 6 October 2024.
"It will be a different and very tough match. I will see what I can do. I just spoke a little bit with the team, I definitely need to improve my return a little bit. The rest of it seemed to be working quite well. When you break early enough in each set, it naturally gives you a little bit more confidence. I am just happy to be on the court and I hope I can play good tennis, which is the most important part for me. I can't wait to get back on the court," he explained.
In the on-court interview, the Italian also spoke about the new members of the team: trainer Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio.
"It will take some time to get to know each other better but I am getting along well with them. We are trying to improve and change a couple of things that hopefully will make me a better player," he said.
