Daniil Medvedev overcame Brazilian Seyboth Wild with a double 7-5, earning himself the third round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters, where Matteo Arnaldi will be waiting for him. In a press conference, the Russian took stock of his season and spoke about his chances of winning the tournament and his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

"A little bit up and down, but overall I would say not bad, not perfect, I mean, zero titles, so definitely not perfect. I had some nice wins, I had some good results. It was tough playing against Jannik and Carlos, but I managed to beat Jannik in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, playing really well.
Against Carlos, actually, in the three matches I played this year I had the feeling of playing maybe even better than before, but I still lost. But yeah, I feel like I have room for improvement. I'm in the running for the Finals and I'm happy to try to finish strong. The goals remain to try to win a title. Winning the title? In any tournament I play I can get to the final, I've shown that many times. It's not easy, but I'll do my best to try to play better and better in every match, serve better and try to win," he analyzed.

On his win over Wild, he said: "It's a tough match. He plays well, very well against me. I felt like I played a good match, just a couple of big mistakes, but I stayed strong and managed to win."
For Medvedev, Shanghai is a place that evokes special memories, having been crowned champion in 2019.
"I love this place. I love the city since the first time I was here for the challenger. I think it's the best tournament ever, outside of the Slams. It's great, I think, for the players and for the fans. I think all the stadiums are full, even for training, there's a great energy, I'm happy to have won here and I will try my best to stay as long as possible," he explained.
