Jayson Tatum has spoken honestly about his MVP goals and how he wont let that get in the way of his teams overall success.

Tatum finished outside the top five in MVP voting last season, despite being one of the leaders in scoring, assists, and rebounds for the entire regular season.

Hes not looking to promote his own individual game in sacrifice of anything else.

Not chasing MVP, in spite of costing us games, Tatum said after a preseason win against the Nuggets. But if I am in that conversation, that means were one of the best teams. That means Im playing the right way, and everybody in the team is having success, and we are going in the right path.

Tatum is arguably the best player on the Celtics and a lot of people thought he would go to another level last season, however his teammate Jaylen Brown was the one who collected ECF MVP and Finals MVP awards.

Everybody should have individual goals, Tatum said. And we are all mature enough and know what it is to have team success that nothing gets in the way of what we are trying to accomplish and be a special and a great place than we was last year and even better this year.

Whether the guys want to make the All-Defensive team, All-Star, or be MVP, you should be able to go after that. That means youre having a hell of a year, that youre dominating, being the best version of yourself, which we want everybody to be.
