Former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is reported to be in talks with England over becoming the Three Lions' new boss.

Tuchel, who has been out of work since leaving Bayern in the summer, has long been linked with the England job and has been touted as a serious candidate ever since Gareth Southgate stepped down in the aftermath of Euro 2024.

WELT were the first to report Tuchel's talks with England. It is claimed the former Chelsea, PSG and Borussia Dortmund boss is in "advanced negotiations" and a deal could be struck for him to take over from interim boss Lee Carsley "quickly".

This was later backed up by Christian Falk, who echoed the claims that Tuchel is speaking with the English Football Association.

Tuchel has regularly been linked with a return to England, with Manchester United also known admirers of the German. The Red Devils are expected to stick with current boss Erik ten Hag.

The Telegraph, however, state there has been no formal contact with any candidates. Informal talks have been held with a handful of potential options but the concept of advanced negotiations is firmly denied.

Carsley played down his chances of being handed the role on a permanent basis following England's disappointing 2-1 defeat to Greece, opening the door to an external hire.

Alongside Tuchel, the likes of Graham Potter and Eddie Howe have been named as possible targets.
