Iga Swiatek didn't wait for too long to find a new coach as the Polish tennis star has announced that she and Wim Fissette have agreed on a partnership.

Earlier this month, the five-time Grand Slam champion decided to part ways with Tomasz Wiktorowski, who coached her for the past three years. While the 23-year-old was extremely grateful for the major success they achieved together, she felt they couldn't help each other anymore.

And now, Swiatek has hired Fissette, who was Naomi Osaka's long-time coach. After guiding the Japanese to two Grand Slam victories in 2019 and 2020 in their first stint, the two reunited at the start of this season but split after the US Open.

The Belgian coach is one of the biggest names in the business since he also worked in the past with Simona Halep, Viktoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters.

Swiatek's statement on adding Fissette

"I'm happy to announce that Wim Fissette is joining our team. As you know, I'm preparing for the WTA Finals but my perspective is, as always, long-term, not short-term. I said many times that my career is a marathon for me, not a sprint and I'm working, operating and making decisions with this approach. I want to say that I'm very excited and looking forward to working with Wim. He seems to have a great attitude, vision and huge experience at a very top level of tennis. It's always crucial to try and get to know each other better but we're off to a good start and I can't wait to compete soon," Swiatek announced on Instagram.

After not having that great of a summer, the world No. 1 decided to take a break after the US Open as she hasn't played any tournaments during the Asian swing.

However, she is set to return to action at the WTA Finals in early November, where she and Fissette will debut as a team.
