Andy Roddick is having a positive perspective on Coco Gauff's current situation as he thinks the 20-year-old has improved a lot over the last year and has no doubt that the 2023 US Open champion will eventually resolve her serving woes.

Over the last couple of months, there has been a lot of talk about the issues the American tennis star has been dealing with on her serve.

On Saturday, Gauff hit a stunning 21 double faults in a three-set Wuhan semifinal loss to Aryna Sabalenka. For the top-ranked American female tennis player, it was her career-high number in that category and also the record for the most double faults recorded by a player on the WTA Tour in 2024.

"I think the rest of her (Coco's) game has become so much better than even it was a year ago that she will self-correct this at some point, I have full faith. I think she is committed to it, she is a hard worker," Roddick said on the Served With Andy Roddick.

Roddick urges people not to panic about Gauff: She has done some impressive things

After the US Open, the 20-year-old split with coach Brad Gilbert and hired Matt Daly. Following her Wuhan loss, the world No. 3 revealed that she was in the process of trying to implement some changes to her serve and that there would probably be some growing pains.

Addressing Gauff's critics, Roddick noted that she simply can't resolve the issue overnight and also urgedher doubters to take a moment and look at her resume.

"It's not going to get better overnight, it's not flipping a switch but all of these things that we constantly harp on and are negative about, and probably fairly so, she's back up to No. 3 in the world and she's 20 years old. Can we take a step back and be realistic for a second. That's pretty impressive. The mental gymnastics that she's having to go through and also somehow finding momentum in the face of these struggles is impressive in its own way," the American tennis legend explained.
