The Rock had been on an impressive run in WWE earlier this year, with his heel persona receiving widespread praise as one of the best performances of his career. In addition to his wrestling success, he is also set to release Moana 2 soon, and early indications suggest the movie is poised to generate significant box office numbers.

For the past several months,The Rock has been hard at work filmingMoana 2 and he even made a surprise appearance at Disneys D23 event in order to promote his upcoming movie as well.

Moana 2 is scheduled for release in the United States on November 27, 2024. Alongside this sequel, The Rock is also working on a live-action adaptation of Moana, which is currently in production and expected to hit theaters in July 2026. Both projects follow the tremendous success of the original Moana from 2016.

The sequel is directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, with Christina Chen and Yvett Merino producing. Aulii Cravalho returns as Moana, and The Rock reprises his role as Maui.

According to Deadline, Moana 2 is projected to bring in over $100 million during its opening week, with $75 million to $82 million expected from the Friday-Sunday weekend portion. The original film grossed an impressive $687.2 million worldwide.
