Following hisWWE release last year, Shelton Benjamin waited for the right moment and made hisAEW debut earlier this monthand fans are already happy with his performance in the company. With that said, Mark Henry claimed that he told Toy Khan to sign Benjamin on the day of his WWE release.

On theOctober 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, Shelton Benjamin made his in-ring debut as he squared off against Lio Rush in singles competition. He had a strong showing and impressed fans in a big way and fans are happy with him already.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry claimed that he immediately reached out to Tony Khan after Shelton Benjamins release, urging him to bring Benjamin into AEW. Henry expressed his belief in Benjamins talent, saying he wanted to work with him in any capacity.

Although nothing came of his initial suggestion at the time, Henry is happy that AEW has since recognized Benjamins potential and signed him. He emphasized that Benjamin is a unique talent who should be treated as such, as it will benefit everyone involved in the long run.

Shelton Benjamin also revealed that he ultimately signed with AEW as he believes AEW is the biggest platform outside of WWE. Benjamin is now set to square off against Sammy Guevara on this weeks episode of AEW Dynamite, so it remains to be seen if he will betriumphant against The Spanish God, as he will be with AEW for the long run.
