Emma Raducanu's bad luck continues as the British tennis star is out of the Hong Kong Open and it is safe to say that she won't play any WTA tournaments in the remainder of the season.

In mid-October, the former world No. 10 earned back-to-back wins in Seoul before a foot injury forced her to retire mid-match versus Daria Kasatkina in their quarterfinal match. After undergoing scans to determine the extent of her injury, it was revealed that the 21-year-old sprained her ligaments.

Following the diagnosis, Raducanu missed Beijing, Wuhan, Ningbo and this week's event in Guangzhou. However, it was still expected that the 2021 US Open champion would be able to play at the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong next week after confirming her participation just a couple of days ago.

Hello everyone, its Emma Raducanu here. I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Womens Hong Kong Open. Its my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city. So Im very much looking forward to coming and I hope to see you all there in October," the Briton said in a video message recorded over the weekend.

Raducanu's Asian plans are ruined but she may still get to play the BJK Cup Finals

When the Asian swing started, the 21-year-old didn't hide how determined she was to do well in one of her favorite parts of the world. But unfortunately, she ended up being limited to just one tournament due to an unfortunate injury.

However, Raducanu may still appear in the rest of 2024 as she is still slated to represent Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga between November 13-20.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Open organizers suffered two major blows in two days. Before Raducanu, Naomi Osaka announced her withdrawal from the tournament on Monday.
