Emma Raducanu took to social media to shed light on her Hong Kong Open withdrawal as the 21-year-old confirmed her recovery from a foot injury is on track but she is just not ready to play again next week.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the former world No. 10 would not make her comeback next week. And the news came as a shock, considering that just over the weekend the Briton released a video message confirming her Hong Kong appearance.

That led to some speculating about whether Raducanu aggravated her injury or sustained another setback. However, there aren't any needs to worry as the 2021 US Open champion is progressing well and should be able to represent Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup between November 13-20.

"Hellooo, Im sorry to say that I will not be able to play in Hong Kong next week. Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit. I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future! In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BJKC," the British tennis star wrote on X.

Raducanu stayed pretty healthy until the Asian swing

After playing just two tournaments during summer on hard courts, the 21-year-old said she had the Asian swing circled on her calendar and was planning to play a full schedule. But then in her first tournament in Seoul, she injured her foot ligaments and ended up missing Beijing, Wuhan, Ningbo, Guangzhou and now Hong Kong.

Last year, Raducanu had surgeries to both wrists and an ankle. When she returned to action at the start of 2024, she didn't hide that one of her biggest goals was to stay healthy this year. While the latest setback is disappointing, it isn't anything too serious and she should be back in action next month.
