Goldbergs status as a free agent after his WWE contract expired had fans speculating about whether he would retire or have one final match. However, his unexpected return at the Bad Blood event took everyone by surprise, leaving both fans and analysts in shock. In fact, Goldberg has finally addressed the confrontation that took place during his return.
At theBad Blood Premium Live Event, tensions rose when WWE World Heavyweight ChampionGUNTHER confronted Goldberg. While Goldberg was in the crowd enjoying the show with his family, GUNTHER insulted him by calling him a one-trick pony to provoke a reaction. As Goldberg attempted to respond to the obvious provocation, security stepped in to prevent him from entering the ring.
While speaking on hisCarCast podcast, Goldberg explained that he had taken his wife Wanda and son Gage to the show while in town for business. WWE had invited them, and Goldberg described it as a fun experience. However, things took an unexpected turn when GUNTHER confronted him.
Goldberg admitted that he should have seen it coming, especially in Atlanta, but once GUNTHER started talking trash, he couldnt just sit there and take it. When GUNTHER brought up his family, that was the breaking point for Goldberg. As a dad, he wasnt going to let anyone insult his son, Gage. He said it was a matter of standing up for himself and his family, regardless of the situation. Goldberg made it clear that it was simply a reaction to being provoked and moved on to the next topic.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter,there are no plans for GUNTHER vs. Goldbergat either Survivor Series or WrestleMania. However, WrestleVotes noted that there are plans for Goldberg in the future. Therefore, it remains to be seen when the WWE Hall of Famer will make his return to WWE television as fans definitely want to see him.
