Just over a year ago John Isner retired from tennis. The big American Server was one of the most important players of his generation, especially for the USA.

"I want to be remembered as a person who competed hard on the court. Off the court, I think the most important thing is to have the respect of my colleagues in the locker room. Tennis has been a huge part of my life. It's hard to say goodbye. The most important thing is that I have an amazing life and I look forward to every second of it. If you play for 17 years, you are able to create great memories. The most important thing is that the people I have met through tennis are everything to me. I met my wife through tennis. Now I have four beautiful children. I am very grateful to this sport for what it has given me," said the American in his last press conference before the tennis farewell.

However, in a recent interview, Isner said (half-jokingly) that he could get back into the top 100, if he decided to return to the ATP Tour. Words that perhaps leave a glimmer of hope for a sensational return to tennis, after the emotional farewell, explaining:

"I think I could get back into the top 100 in the world if I got back on Tour. I could get a wildcard for some challengers and try to build something from there. There are some issues with my body that I would have to work out, and I would have to do some research on why my foot is still bothering me. I think if I could do that, I could be in the top 100 in the world, I would maintain myself."
