WWE NXTs October 29 episode brought the fallout of Halloween Havoc, and that event saw the return of William Regal to WWE television. Regal is currently Vice President of Global Talent Development for WWE, but he hasnt been allowed to show up on WWE television until now, and hes going to help Lexis King.
The NXT Heritage Cup will see reigning champion Charlie Dempsey defend his title against Lexis King. Dempsey, known for his technical prowess and disciplined in-ring style, faces a formidable challenger in King, who wants to prove himself above everything else. With William Regal by his side, Lexis King may have big things in store for him.
William Regalwas forbidden from appearingon WWE television for a whole year after he left AEW for WWE. That was part of the deal surrounding Tony Khan granting Regal his release.Regal has been a part of NXTbackstage, but now that time is up, Regal is back on television. It was great to see Regal make his way to the ring this week for the match.
This match got through the first round with Dempsey in the lead, and then Lexis King suffered an apparent knee injury on the outside of the ring. He was unable to stand up as William Regal looked on.
The match was paused for 45 seconds, so Lexis King could rest his leg. Then they continued on, but Dempsey was saved by the bell in the second round. The third round started with King lifting his knee into Dempseys face, but that was the only offense he was able to pull off in the early goings.
Dempsey teed off on King, as he nailed one variety of suplex after another. Dempsey focused his attacks on Lexis King, and he sold each attack. Then William Regal handed King some brass knuckles, but King gave them back and yelled, I am not my father! That is when Dempsey got a bridging pin and won the match to retain his title.
Are you happy to see William Regal back on WWE television?
