Liverpool manager Arne Slot expects Diogo Jota to return from his rib injury after the international break.

Jota tangled with Chelsea's Tosin Adarabioyo early in the 2-1 win over the Blues and eventually had to be forced off with an issue that has seen him miss Liverpool's last three matches in all competitions.

It will still be a little while before Liverpool fans will see Jota in action as Slot confirmed a return before the international break is out of the question.

"It will be after [the next break]," Slot told the press, confirming Jota will miss upcoming clashes with Brighton & Hove Albion (twice), Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa.

Should all go to plan, Jota will be back in action late in November, when Liverpool face Southampton, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Slot also confirmed that versatile midfielder Harvey Elliott will return at a similar time as he nears a full recovery from the broken foot that sent him to the sidelines in the early weeks of the current campaign.

Winger Federico Chiesa remains out of contention while he battles a series of physical issues, although Slot has laughed off reports the Italian could return to Serie A on loan in January.
