The defeat suffered at the Paris Rolex Masters has irrefutably said how Daniil Medvedev is going through a crisis, in this second part of the season. The Russian confirmed his not excellent form, losing in the first round against Alexei Poryrin with the score of 6-4 2-6 7-6. A season finale certainly to forget for the former ATP number 1, who if he were not to win the ATP Finals in Turin, would end the year without having won a title.

In this second part of the season the 28-year-old has accumulated the worst statistical data in a few years, perhaps of his entire career. Since May, Daniil has only managed to win two matches against 10 defeats against top 30 opponents.
Despite this, Medvedev managed to qualify for the ATP Finals well in advance.
"How to beat Sinner and Alcaraz? I don't need to improve or reprogram anything, I just have to play my tennis better. Jannik and Carlos play great, with a lot of variety. I have to express my best tennis, like I did for example in Beijing. In that case Carlos played well and there was still a fight. In the end it's all a question of details. Even players like them can falter," Medvedev said in an interview with Ms.

Despite not lifting titles, the Russian still reached the finals at the Australian Open and Indian Wells, losing on both occasions. The first against Jannik Sinner and the second against Carlos Alcaraz, who won the American tournament for the second time in his career.
But what is the cause of the Russian's crisis? A clear drop in form - probably the main cause -, combined with the exceptional period experienced by the Alcaraz-Sinner duopoly throughout the season. And the motivations? Maybe. Medvedev probably hoped to have the future in his hands after Bog 3, but the young Alcaraz and Sinner imposed themselves as the rulers. A mix of situations that brought the Russian into crisis.
