Kenny Omega has beenon the shelf for almost a year after undergoingemergency surgery for diverticulitis and there is no indication he will compete in the ring anytime soon. With that said, AEW is planning a high-profile feud for Omega after his in-ring return.
Kenny Omega made his first television appearance since December on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he shared updates about his recovery. However, his return was interrupted when he was attacked by The Elite, which included The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, causing him to leave the show quickly.
After this incident, Omegas close friend and longtime tag team partner Kota Ibushi announced that Omega started training at his facility in Japan. Omega has also been doing intense boxing training to help with his recovery.
According to Dave Meltzer in theWrestling Observer Newsletter, Kenny Omega is talking about his return as if its definitely happening soon. The plan has been to arrange a fifth match with Kazuchika Okada, which will be tough because of the high expectations from their past matches.
Kenny Omega is set to appear for NJPW in Japan for the first time since New Year Dash 2023 at Power Struggle on November 4th, and fans are eagerly anticipating his return. Regarding his in-ring comeback, Kota Ibushi recently mentioned that it will take Omega another 2-3 months to be ready. It will be interesting to see how AEW plans his feud with Okada once he is back in action.
