Wade Barrett had a notable first stint in WWE, where he won the inaugural season of NXT, led The Nexus, and secured multiple championship titles. After taking a break from wrestling, he returned to WWE in 2020 as a color commentator for NXT. He later transitioned to the main roster in the same role. Recently, Barrett addressed who he would want as his ideal opponent for a potential in-ring comeback.
Wade Barretts career gained significant traction when he embraced the Bad News Barrett persona, which resonated with fans and helped him regain momentum in WWE after a lull. Since Triple H took over WWEs creative direction in July 2022, several wrestlers have made their comebacks making fans wonder if Barrett, who last competed in 2016, might also return to the ring. Despite his lengthy absence from wrestling, fans remain hopeful about the possibility of his comeback.
While speaking during a recent interview with Phil Johnson for PWMania, Barrett shared that if he could choose an opponent, it would be Drew McIntyre. Barrett has a long history with McIntyre, as they are close friends. He mentioned that McIntyre had recently said some things to him on Raw that he hasnt forgotten. While Barrett downplayed the exchange, he made it clear that McIntyre is fortunate to have stopped when he did.
Barrett hinted that if McIntyre had pushed him further, he might have unleashed his signature move and perhaps even initiated his comeback to the ring. However, he emphasized that he is not actively seeking to return to wrestling.
Wade Barretts last match took place on April 4, 2016, during an episode of RAW, where he partnered with Sheamus but lost to Big E and Kofi Kingston. Fans are excited about the possibility of Barrett, the former leader of The Nexus, returning to the ring, but currently, it remains unclear if he will make a comeback.
